Casual Thursday...

About a couple weeks back I caught the flu bug that came with the "online shopping bug". Armed with 70% boredom and 30% economic stimulation and the end result were these Prada pumps from Barney's.

I love shoes! (Did I already mention that?)

Well, the weather today is just perfect and I can't resist dressing down and wearing them.

what I am wearing:
sweater dress: BCBG
tights: Express
shoes: Prada
bag: Cole Haan
bangles: Gift from a friend

I am so ready for spring!

xs: My girlfriends and I saw the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and we loved it! I'll probably do a post about it one of these days.

It's almost Friday, so have a great weekend lovelies!

Work outfit...

I always have a difficult time finding clothes to wear to work that will still show my fashion sense yet conservative enough to command the respect of my colleagues specially since I am the youngest among them =) .

But shoes are a different story - I can wear whatever I want whenever I want =)) and the best part about shoes - your size do not change whether you grow old, gain weight or lose weight!

This bordeaux pair from CL is one of my favorite. I can wear them with almost anything and everywhere - from the boardroom to brunch to dinner. And it adds that subtle punch of color when needed.

what I am wearing:
jacket: Banana Republic
dress: Ann Taylor
skinny belt: Baker's
shoes: Christian Louboutin
pearl accessories: flea market finds in Boracay

Oh, and since nude shoes have been a thing lately, I got these new Manolo's at Saks. Thanks to my adorable baby sis Coco who found them, called me, tried them on and bought them for me.

Since we have the same shoe size and shoe taste, we call each other up when there are good sales going on.

Found any good shoe deals lately? What do you typically wear to work?

xs: Thanks for emailing me about the issue with the word verification when adding comments. I already took it off. Mwah!

Hugh Jackman in the Academy

I have always been a Hugh Jackman fan. I think he's hot. He's like one of those wines that gets better as it age.

Anyway, I just watched Barbara Walters interview Hugh Jackman and after watching it I admired him even more! He's got the looks - the incredible smile, hunk-a-hunk of body, he acts (theatre - played a gay in the The Man from Oz - and film), sings really well and dances too!

But there are 2 things he said that made me admire him even more. First is when he said "I love my wife so much, i love her more and more every day"... or something like that. And second, was when he talked about his dad and what his dad told him - "When my son sings at the Carnegie hall, it's black tie event for me." Aaawwww!

Can't wait to see him perform at the Oscars tonight. He will have a song/dance number. Here's a preview of what's in store:

Master's bedroom makeover

Another passion I have is for interior decorating. I'm not a pro, no formal training, just an avid HGTV and Fine Living viewer. I remember when I sold my townhouse, the buyers asked me if I was an interior designer and replied "I just watch too much HGTV!" LOL. They liked the way I decorated and furnished my house that they even bought most of my stuff. Everyone who viewed the house asked me for the specific names of the paint colors I used.

I was not as busy then, so on weekends I always think of a new project to do. I broke my nails, learned how to paint, stained my favorite pair of shorts and T, learned how to use power tools, stuff I never thought I'd learn.

Anyway, I'm getting tired of the way the master's bedroom looks now and the easiest way to change the look of a room is through fabric and paint. I like the color of the walls so I probably will not change it. It is currently painted this muted pale blue grey called Rain from Sherwin Williams. The bed is a four poster canopy bed in mahogany. I like this bed but I got tired of the canopy so I took it off. The bed is currently flanked by plugged-in sconces with natural linen shades. The duvet and shams had prints in blues, greens and beiges. The draperies were 2 toned dupioni silk in blue and green.

I love different textures and I am also leaning towards organic fabrics in beige and natural linen colors. This bed ensemble from West Elm is so appealing to me. Green will be my my accent color so it will pop with the pale blue walls. The accent will be in the lumbar pillow with subtle fern detailing in green. I am also considering switching the sconces with the green bedside lamps(?) or maybe just keep my sconces(?).

Below is a compilation of my choices:

Resources:
From West Elm:

Fern Jacquard Lumbar pillow cover - Pottery Barn - seen here.

Grant Sconces with natural linen shades - Pottery Barn - seen here. OR
Sonoma bedside lamp in Green - Pottery Barn - seen here.
Organic cotton knit throw in natural - West Elm - seen here.

The draperies are where I am having a hard time choosing. Maybe a solid color in a darker linen shade and fabric. Any suggestions?

"My Suicide" mockumentary

"Fil-Am animator in Berlinale" - My cousin Arvin Louis Bautista was the lead animator for an Indie mockumentary called "My Suicide" that won the "Best Feature Film" at the Berlin International Film Festival this weekend. The film stars Gabriel Sunday, Brooke Nevin, David Carradine, Joe Mantegna, Mariel Hemingway and Nora Dunn.

Archie Williams (Gabriel Sunday) is a 17-year old media geek who has suddenly found himself the most talked-about kid in school. He has announced that he's going to kill himself - on camera - for a class project. His classmates, parents, Sierra - the most beautiful girl in school (Brooke Nevin), and a "Shady Bunch" of shrinks, doctors, pill-pushers, and counselors descend on Archie. Some are hoping to save him, some want to imitate him, others try to push him over the brink. Archie films every moment of his high school experience, hiding nothing from his audience: realities of life, death, violence, sex, drugs, and the intense media overload and hypocrisy that bombard all teenagers.

My Suicide trailer

This mockumentary is now an official selection to the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, the Gen Art Film Festival in New York, and the San Francisco International Film Festival. The Berlin Festival is apparently one of the three biggest in the world--next to Cannes and Venice.

shopping "bug"

There are pros and cons to being sick. Let me start with the cons: I feel awful, I can't eat 'cause my throat hurts like crazy, I'm always sleepy and I am bored to death. Pros: I can't eat, I get to stay in bed longer and I get to do online shopping!

So yes the flu bug did not just get into me, it's cousin "shopping bug" came with it.
Out of boredom today, I managed to get a pair of Antik jeans from RueLaLa, a pair of grey Prada pumps at Barney's and this cute top from Nordstrom. I have found this sale Prada purse as well but it was out of stock wen I tried to get it into my shopping cart. (which I think was a blessing in disguise - as I have already done way too much economic stimulation this month lol )

Anyway, here are my shopping items, everything I got except for the purse and the bracelet.

I'll take pictures and post them when I receive the actual items.

Hmmm, being sick does a lot of damage...

Happy Valentine's day everyone!

Ready for spring...

This winter is the coldest winter yet for us living in Florida. Right around the same time last year, I already had my jackets and heavy coats dry cleaned and in storage. I am looking forward to the warmer weather to set in... Spring and fall are my favorite seasons. Florida summer tend to get soooo hot and these two seasons are just perfect.

And so, I have been doing a lot of browsing on-line for ideas this spring. I recently got these pair of Marc Jacobs sandals from Gilt without even knowing what to wear them with yet.

I had to have them specially since I got them yet again at a steal price which retails for $440.00 here. I loved the look that was put together by the Net-A-Porter editor seen below:

The cardigan had been sold out and I do not really want to spend a lot on the outfit itself so I found comparable substitutes. The white dress I got from Heavenly Couture and I am still looking for the perfect cardigan to go with it. Check out my choices below:

My new Ps....

I was browsing last weekend, for what else but shoes, and found these pair that I have been eying for a while on sale. Usually, when they go on sale, my size is the first one to go out of stock. Well, well, well not this time. As soon as I saw my size available I went ahead and snagged it into my shopping cart that said "In stock and ready to ship". Boy was I glad I did. They were the last pair!

They are these perfect fumo (gray)/nero (black) gradient patent leather platform peep-toe pumps. The peep toe is just right to get a glimpse of your French-tipped toe nails. The color gradually changes from fumo in front to nero at the back. Ahhh talk about shoe heaven... Ladies you know what I mean?!

What are they?

Oh! Ok, ok, I'm getting there...

Take a peak...

My point-and-shoot digital camera does not give the color justice...

Aren't they just gorgeous?

Tried them on and they were perfect! I love, do you?

what i am wearing:
sweater dress: H&M
tights: Express
shoes: Prada (of course)
accessories: Ann Taylor

Gladiators

Gladiator sandals re-appeared last summer and are still very much around. I was browsing through Barney's shoe paradise and found a few that caught my attention. These Grecian inspired sandals will look really cute whichever way you go - casual or dressy. Check out the pairs that i liked.

These are by Balenciaga

These metallic ones are from Prada and Miu Miu

Christian Louboutin's version is a tid bit dressy than the previous ones only because of its sculpted heels

This trend is one that i heart - both for its timeless style and for simply being comfy!
