Outfit Inspiration: Summer at Work

Dressing for work everyday is often a hassle for me. I stand there in the middle of our walk-in and complain about how I have a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear. Of course it is not true.

Over the last year or so I have gained weight – I used to be a size 0 and I am now a size 2/4. I blame it to my GG’s delicious cooking LOL. Please don’t get me wrong – I am not complaining. In fact I liked the weight I put on since I look so much healthier. However, this is the reason for me not finding anything to wear. My jeans are all tight now, my skirts go up when I walk and my dresses fit like Herve Leger’s bandage dresses. So, I need to update my wardrobe, starting with my work outfits:
  1. French Connection Summer Spot Jacquard Dress. It is lightweight and perfect for work worn with pumps and dressed up with stilettos and multiple gold and silver bangles for a night out.
  2.
  3. French Connection LA Story Trousers. These pants go well with any top. A printed bat wing top, nude open toe pumps, wood colored bracelets and patent notebook will be very chic for work. For a date night, toss on a glittered tank, multiple wood colored bracelets and heeled strappy sandals.

Oh, and no, I am NOT on a diet. =))

I wore these Loubies to add a punch of color along with the pink pearls. It is still a little chilly right now so I wore a black blazer on top of this dress making it boardroom worthy.

Last Sunday, I have been itching in my arms and my back. I was also having acid reflux. I ignored the symptoms thinking I just need to reapply moisturizer since it has been really cold again and my skin is getting dry. GG got me some Benadryl and calamine lotion but of course I didn't listen ;-) (I know I was stubborn!) . The itching and hyper-acidity persisted the whole day. That night as I was about to take a shower, I was horrified at what I saw in the mirror - I had hives everywhere except in my face, hands and feet. GG rushed me to the hospital emergency room and we were there until the wee hour of the morning. The culprit? I switched dry cleaners. Yes! Who knew?!! I was allergic to the solution my new dry cleaner used! Seriously!? Oh and guess what the doctors prescribed? Benadryl, Claritin and Calamine lotion. Yes, yes, GG was right. He had this smirk-I-told-you-so look on his face. To which, on cue, I said "My doctor and hero!".

Happy Friday lovelies!!!!!

After work last Wednesday night I decided to pick up a bag of treats for Boemee before going home to prepare for a dinner with McDreamy. And as I was driving, an elder lady driver made a quick left turn, cutting through both of the opposite direction lanes, not stopping in the median and driving diagonally through the direction I was going then hitting my car on the driver side. It was like in the movies where you see everything happening in slow motion. I was so scared and shaking for a good while. I just sat there in my car for a few minutes and then called 911 and my sister then texted McDreamy who came to the scene. It was a blessing that neither the elder lady nor I got hurt.

So my lovelies, no matter how careful you are as a driver, you cannot be sure about the other drivers on the road. Always be alert and be safe.

xs: I had a fine time with McDreamy during dinner.

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Look: Pasadena Roses and Mango Mojitos

It's Friday which means I can wear jeans in the office. And since we are having a casual dinner after work, I decided to go with an easy outfit that I can wear to both places.

Day...

What I am wearing:
dress: Ruche (seen here)
jeans: Antik (also here)
cardigan: Anthropologie
shoes: Bakers ( also here and here)
accessories: pink and white fresh water pearl earrings, necklace and multiple bracelets (bought from my last vacation a couple of years ago in Manila)
sun glasses: Marc Jacobs

Night...

April032009 056d
shoes: Vince Camuto

For a quick dinner look, I kept the same outfit without the jeans and the cardigan and switched shoes.

The Dinner...

Brie Salmon with Couscous
Need I say more... yum-0!

Mango Mojito
I hardly drink when we go out so I told our waiter to take it easy on the rum. The result - this light and very refreshing new fave!

For dessert, I had Creme Brulee...

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Look: Going in Circles

March302009 002

what I am wearing:
dress: Banana Republic (seen here)
cardigan: Anne Klein (really old - vintage now)
shoes: Banana Republic (seen below and here)
bag: Cole Haan
accessories: diamond earrings, Banana Republic bracelet (old; details below)

I love this cuff bracelet. I can't remember exactly when I got it but it matched the circles in the dress.

I always go for comfort before trend when it comes to shoes. And these BR pumps has both. The elastic straps give the illusion of traditional mary janes and the 4" stacked heels are just perfect. I've gone shopping in these shoes and my feet did not hurt a bit.

March302009 017

This dress is one of the sale items I got with the additional 30% off a couple of weeks ago. What do you think? Not bad huh? The only thing I do not like about it are the pleats in front that makes you look chunky in the middle. A belt will probably take care of it.

Happy Monday lovelies!!!

spring is HERE!

Yay! It's the first day of spring and I am so ready for it! It's my favorite season apart from fall. So this weekend I'm scheduled to do some spring cleaning in my closet. And of course, more room in the closet means more clothes, no?

Anyway, here are some dresses I am eying at Urban Outfitters. It has been awhile since I shopped there and I was really surprised by the number of dresses that I liked.

I love the feminine details in this one - flowy ruffles, subtle floral fabric ($88.00 here).

I love the flutter sleeves and embroidered neckline in this Dolce Vita dress ($188. here). It will also be perfect for summer.

I love the pop of yellow underneath the cutout detailing in this one. ($68.00 here)

These last 2 dresses I really like...

The combination of the deep-V neckline, the smocked waist and the puff sleeves is calling my name ($98.00 here).

This one I think is hip. I love the subtle embroidery, smock details and curved hem. Hmmm the possibilities of how i would wear it is endless... ($158.00 here)

What do you think about these dresses? You like? or not so much?

BTW, have you heard of Earth Hour? If not I encourage you to check out this video

Look: In the mood for sandals...

For the past few days our weather is in the high 70s low 80s which is just perfect! It gave me a reason to wear these platform sandals.

What I am wearing:
flutter sleeve belted dress: Banana Republic
sweater: Anthropologie
accessories: multiple gold bangles, diamond earings
light tan sandals: Bakers (on sale here)

On a different note, did any of you watch The City? How gorgeous was Whitney's silk olive jacket? Oh, and I learned a new word from gorgeous Olivia - "multipletude"! ;-)

I hope you're all having a great week!

Ready for spring...

This winter is the coldest winter yet for us living in Florida. Right around the same time last year, I already had my jackets and heavy coats dry cleaned and in storage. I am looking forward to the warmer weather to set in... Spring and fall are my favorite seasons. Florida summer tend to get soooo hot and these two seasons are just perfect.

And so, I have been doing a lot of browsing on-line for ideas this spring. I recently got these pair of Marc Jacobs sandals from Gilt without even knowing what to wear them with yet.

I had to have them specially since I got them yet again at a steal price which retails for $440.00 here. I loved the look that was put together by the Net-A-Porter editor seen below:

The cardigan had been sold out and I do not really want to spend a lot on the outfit itself so I found comparable substitutes. The white dress I got from Heavenly Couture and I am still looking for the perfect cardigan to go with it. Check out my choices below:
